摘要: Current knowledge of the patterns injury in United States derive principally from mortality statistics that constitute less than 0.1% all injuries reaching medical attention. There presently exists no national system for surveillance nonfatal injuries. To illustrate usefulness and feasibility conducting using E-coded hospital discharge data, we examined data Massachusetts Statewide Childhood Injury Prevention Program. By increased number cases available analysis by 40-fold over deaths, were able to describe epidemiologic characteristics important causes childhood We therefore propose development a based on Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set coded both nature (N Code) external cause (E Code).
