摘要: Data on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in adolescents with type 2 diabetes (T2D) are limited. Echocardiography was performed the last year of Treatment Options for Diabetes Adolescents and Youth (TODAY) clinical trial (median 4½ yr from diagnosis T2D, average age 18 yr), including MMode 2D measurements left ventricular (LV) atrial (LA) dimensions, LV tissue Doppler imaging (TDI), tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE). Relationships between cardiac structure function demographic characteristics baseline change-from-baseline CVD factors were examined 455 participants. Mean mass (LVM) high/normal 16.2% had adverse geometry (8.1% concentric geometry, 4.5% hypertrophy, 3.6% both). Determinants higher LVM male gender, black race, increasing body index (BMI), blood pressure (SBP), use (BP) medications, maintenance glycemic control, smoking; heart rate (HR) inversely related. shortening fraction related to BMI SBP. relative wall thickness race-ethnicity, change BMI, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), LA internal dimension SBP, HR (inverse) TDI positively obesity (higher geometry).
