摘要: Carbonyl sulphide (COS) is a trace constituent of the atmosphere and also main form in which 35S released from CO2-cooled nuclear reactors. Measurements its deposition velocity (Vg) are therefore important for validating radiological dose models interpreting role COS global S cycle. The Vg [35S]COS to thin layers several contrasting soils was measured through-flow fumigation system. Deposition not significantly affected by soil type, although moist greater (P < 0.001) than air-dried soils, mean values being 5.71 × 10−6 ms−1 3.06 ms−1, respectively. results obtained about three orders magnitude smaller published SO2 similar suggests that uptake major sink atmospheric COS. consistent with hypothesis reactors unlikely contribute radiation food chain pathway. reduction observed heat-treated indicates microbial involvement uptake. However, it seems metabolism rate-controlling step, since stimulation microflora addition nutrients did increase deposition.
