摘要: Laboratory experiments and numerical simulations have shown that the outcome of cyclic competition is significantly affected by spatial distribution competitors. Short-range interaction limited dispersion allows for coexistence competing species cannot coexist in a well-mixed environment. In order to elucidate mechanisms destroy diversity we study intermediate situation imperfect mixing, typical aquatic media, model between toxin producing, sensitive resistant phenotypes. It found, chaotic changing character distribution, induces coherent oscillations populations. The magnitude increases with strength leading extinction some beyond critical mixing rate. When non-uniform space, can be sustained at much stronger formation partially isolated regions, prevent global extinction. heterogeneity may enable producing strains very long time strong mixing.
