摘要: Abstract Here we present the first reconstruction of Black Sea catchment soil pH evolution during last glacial period and insights into its environmental controls. The is derived from CBT index (cyclization ratio branched tetraethers—brGDGTs; Weijers et al., 2007a), a proxy based on relative abundance tetraethers, applied in this study to northwestern sediment core. Since tetraethers are produced primarily soils but also aquatic environments, evaluate potential reconstruct regarding possible origins brGDGTs. Based previous study, propose correction account for increase brGDGTs situ production paleo-lake. We use CBT-pH record track signal as well investigate internal (i.e., parent material) external climatic) controls long-term change at mid-latitudes. Given that was proposed qualitative paleoprecipitation lower latitudes, investigate, particular, influence precipitation our setting. show that, Central Eastern Europe, glacial–interglacial transition cannot be explained by amounts only can (i) variations spatial source associated with material, (ii) water balance (iii) vegetation litter. Notably, significantly influenced brGDGT sources Heinrich Stadial 1. Moreover, suggests strong decrease moisture budget LGM towards early Holocene, interrupted an abrupt Younger Dryas. Our stresses importance considering evapotranspiration addition shifts order better understand chemical changes mid-latitude under major climate change. Furthermore, suggest chemistry glacial-interglacial more prone and/or sensitive cover through role thus leaching different quality litters. Whatever latitude, appears useful one proxies, provide past hydrology soil.
