Ontology as a search-tool: a study of real users' query formulation with and without conceptual support

摘要: This study examines 16 real users' use of an ontology as a search tool. The queries constructed with the help Concept-based Information Retrieval Interface (CIRI) were compared to created independently based on same task description. Also effectiveness CIRI was unaided queries. simulated method used make searching situations close possible. Due CIRI's query expansion feature number terms remarkably higher in than Direct interface results evaluated generalised precision and relative recall well personal assessments. performed better all methods comparison.
