Prevalence of giardiasis among primary school children

摘要: Giardia is one of the most frequently isolated intestinal protozoa and found worldwide in both developing more developed countries. Clinical aspects human infection with range from asymptomatic carrier state to severe malabsorption. Host-related factors parasite-related host-parasite interactions affect outcome social environmental climactic influencing prevalence infection. The author collected a single stool specimen each 1100 children aged 6-14 years sexes urban rural schools investigate parasites among primary school northern Jordan. Questionnaires on relevant information were completed for child. lamblia was observed 396 (36%) specimens analyzed. 41.3% infected 6-9 year old group 30% 9-12 27.7% over 12 group. Several youngest had diarrhea reported variable symptoms. Rates higher areas families relatively low income males. Contaminated drinking water suspected be major source discusses importance cases epidemiological contributing transmission these areas.
