摘要: This retrospective study investigated the clinical significance and impact of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia bacteraemia in 49 haematology oncology patients at a tertiary referral medical centre Taipei between July 1999 December 2003. Sixteen had 24 episodes central venous catheter (CVC)-related bacteraemia, with main characteristics being nosocomial (100%), preceding antibiotic therapy (94%), developed general ward (87%), immunosuppressive (75%), in-situ CVC-related neutropenia (63%). Only four (25%) inflammatory signs CVC site following diagnosis bacteraemia. Five recurrent risk-factors long-lasting (>10 days) (p 0.036) an initial failure to remove 0.001). These cases did not involve re-infection, as same S. strain was identified random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis subsequent isolates. However, relapses could occur after long latency periods (maximum, 200 days). Most were cured removal CVC, even without appropriate treatment. Physicians should have high index suspicion for CVCs In addition therapy, is crucial successful treatment prevention relapses.
