摘要: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted virus that has been studied primarily in the context of its role as an epidemiological risk factor for cervical cancer and biological agent capable modifying cellular growth differentiation. Chronic HPV infection appears to be etiologically linked neoplastic changes cervix. However, it recently become apparent highly prevalent general population, including substantial number cytologically normal women. Although detection often transient these individuals, not known whether truly eliminated or remains below threshold latent state. Little about interaction between other factors cancer, but possible variables such pregnancy, immunosuppression, use oral contraceptives may alter natural history infection.
