摘要: Abstract Introduction Injury accounts for 9.6% of the global mortality burden, disproportionately affecting those living in low- and middle-income countries. In an effort to improve trauma care Rwanda, Ministry Health developed a prehospital service, Service d'Aide Medicale Urgente (SAMU), established emergency medicine training program. However, little is known about patients receiving or their outcomes. The objective was develop linked prehospital–hospital database evaluate patient characteristics, mechanisms injury, hospital resource use, outcomes among injured acute Kigali, Rwanda. Methods A retrospective cohort study conducted at University Teaching Hospital – primary centre Data included on all transported by SAMU from December 2012 February 2015. SAMU's records data were collected using standardised protocols trained abstractors. Demographic information, injury care, course included. Results 1668 traumatic during period. majority (77.7%) male. median age 30years. Motor vehicle collisions accounted 75.0% encounters which 61.4% involved motorcycles. 48.8% sustained injuries two more anatomical regions. 40.1% admitted 78.1% required surgery. overall rate 5.5% with nearly half deaths occurring centre. Conclusion provided critical epidemiological information describing low-resource setting. Blunt motor involving young males constituted injury. Among this cohort, utilisation high as mortality. This can help guide implementation interventions Rwandan
