摘要: Background: The Drosophila SXL protein controls sex determination and dosage compensation. It is a sex-specific factor controlling splicing of its own Sxl pre-mRNA (auto-regulation), tra (sex determination) msl-2 plus translation mRNA (dosage compensation). Outside the drosophilids, same has been found in both sexes so that, non-drosophilids, does not appear to play key discriminating role compensation that it plays Drosophila. Comparison proteins revealed spatial organisation conserved, with RNA-binding domains being highly whereas N- C-terminal showing significant variation. This manuscript focuses on evolution itself regulation expression. Methodology: Drosophila-Sciara chimeric were produced. Sciara represents non-sex-specific function ancient non-drosophilids from which presumably evolved. Two questions addressed. Did have affected their functions when replaced by corresponding ones Sciara? acquire Nand those analysed vitro study binding affinity cooperative properties, vivo analyse effect producing flies transgenic for proteins. Conclusions: properties extant depend global structure rather than specific domain. implies modifications, mainly domains, occurred during within drosophilid lineage represent co-evolutionary changes determine appropriate folding carry out functions.
