Consumption of garlic and lemon aqueous extracts combination reduces tumor burden by angiogenesis inhibition, apoptosis induction, and immune system modulation

摘要: Abstract Objectives Dietary agents play an important role in cancer prevention and therapy because of their low toxicity the perception that they are not a medicine. The aim present study was to investigate anticancer effect administration garlic lemon aqueous extracts against breast implanted mice. Methods We used 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay determine antiproliferative both combinations. Isobolographic method calculate combination index. Balb/C mice were inoculated with EMT6/P cells received intragastric one three treatments (garlic alone, or both). Change tumor size survival rates measured. TUNEL measure apoptosis enzyme-linked immunosorbent (ELISA) vascular endothelial growth factor expression. Serum levels interferon-γ, interleukin (IL)-2, IL-4, IL-10 measured using ELISA aspartate transaminase, alanine creatinine determined. Results acts synergistically Of treated mice, 80% cured this combination. This inhibited angiogenesis, induced apoptosis, caused systemic activation immune system. Conclusions represents promising option develop food for augmenting conventional therapies. However, further testing is essential understand exact molecular mechanisms test its therapeutic other models.
