摘要: PURPOSE The present study was conducted to determine the patterns of tooth loss among subjects with different tobacco- related habits and compare it non-users tobacco. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total 1075 patients over age 14 years attending Department Periodontics, People's College Dental Sciences Research Centre, Bhopal, India from May September 2009 were included in study. Besides name, gender, information regarding tobacco recorded through interviews. Based on habits, grouped into 4 categories: group 1 (non-users tobacco), 2 (smokers only), 3 (smokeless users only) (users both smoking smokeless tobacco). Tooth determined by clinical examination all permanent teeth excluding third molars. missing or extracted as well indicated for extraction due periodontal disease, dental caries wasting diseases. Prevalence mean whole dentition, maxillary mandibular arches compared between groups. chi-square test one-way ANOVA used comparing prevalence loss, respectively, RESULTS overall groups follows: 1: 28.3% 0.85; 2: 56.1% 1.97; 3: 58.7% 2.38; 4: 56.7% 2.48 (P < 0.001 loss). arch were: 15.3% 0.32; 43% 1.24; 34.3% 0.91; 45.4% 1.26 22.3% 0.52; 33.6% 0.73; 50.9% 1.48; 48.5% 1.23 CONCLUSION When tobacco, greater who consumed In India, where consumption forms is very common, public health programmes need be implemented increase awareness adverse effects oral health.
