摘要: American tegumentary leishmaniasis (ATL) is a group of zoonotic diseases caused by kinetoplastid flagellates the genus Leishmania. A total 66 patients diagnosed as positive ATL cases from northwest Argentina were included in this study. Leishmania stocks isolated vitro and analyzed over promastigote cultures sown on FTA through nested PCR sequence cytochrome b (cyt b). The molecular analysis resulted incrimination L. (Viannia) braziliensis predominant species studied area, identifying two genotypes (V.) braziliensis, 24 Ab-1 cyt 41 Ab-2 b. One guyanensis strain was obtained traveler Brazilian Amazon. prevalence different agreement with previous studies, suggesting necessity for new systems to study genetic diversity more detail. Most typified registered area Zenta Valley (Oran, Hipolito Yrigoyen, Pichanal cities), pointing link between genotype geographical origin sample. Sex age distribution indicate that transmission predominantly associated rural areas or activities, although results might not exclude possibility peri-urban transmission. This work represents, so far, largest isolation characterization Argentina.
