摘要: Coal seam gas operations produce significant quantities of associated water which often require demineralization. Ion exchange with natural zeolites has been proposed as a possible approach. The interaction solutions sodium chloride and bicarbonate in addition to coal is not clear. Hence, we investigated ion kinetics, equilibrium, column behaviour an Australian zeolite. Kinetic tests suggested that the pseudo first order equation best simulated data. Intraparticle diffusion was part rate limiting step more than one process controlled overall uptake. Using constant mass zeolite variable concentration either or resulted convex isotherm fitted by Langmuir model. However, using ions revealed surface sites fact unfavourable. Sodium from (10.3 g Na/kg zeolite) preferred relative (6.4 zeolite). formation calcium carbonate species explain observed behaviour.
