摘要: Religion has been integral to human societies throughout the ages and continues be so. As world we live in changes, however, our experience of life changes with it. New forms create demand for religions commensurate contemporary life. Max Weber famously charted features modern religion early 20th century but its political economy have changed again since. In this paper I discuss new popular religiosity that reflect a late-modern context economic globalisation accelerated inter-cultural exchange. These trends (revitalisation, age spirituality fundamentalism) will illustrated by reference case material from my research Bali other parts Indonesia over last two decades, while emphasizing similar can observed worldwide.
