摘要: As unique sources of coherent high-power, microwave, and millimeter-wave radiation, gyrotrons are an essential part the hunt for controlled fusion. Presently, actively used electron cyclotron resonance plasma heating current drive in various fusion reactors. These have been under development many countries more than forty years. In spite their widespread use, however, there is as yet no single book to introduce non-specialists this vital field. Now Gregory S. Nusinovich, early pioneer gyrotron widely regarded today world's leading authority on subject, explains fundamental physical principles upon which related devices operate. Nusinovich first sets forth some "rules thumb" that allow readers understand operation simple terms. He then explores fundamentals general theory offers overview types gyro-devices, including gyromonotrons, gyroklystrons, gyro-traveling-wave tubes, gyrotwystrons. not only theory, linear nonlinear, but also practical challenges users such face. This will be interest undergraduate graduate students well those who develop or use them applications. It should appeal physicists interested charged-particle dynamics, applied needing know about micro- technologies.
