摘要: A photonic crystal is defined by its band-gap, but it possible to have more than one bandgap. In this chapter, we focus on cases of two bandgaps where has twice the frequency other. This allows coupling occur between bandgaps, provided dielectric itself a quadratic or parametric nonlinearity. Since Bloembergen’s time, been known that modulated nonlinearity can enhance prospects for phase-matching in frequency-doubling. Here, consider obtained through linear refractive index, giving advantage shortened interaction lengths are possible. following sections equations electromagnetic propagation grating structure with derived using Maxwell’s equation as well coupled mode Hamiltonian analysis.
