摘要: One of the main problems associated with adhesive joints is existence stress concentrations (shear and peel) at ends overlap, reducing joint performance. This especially valid for most common geometry—the single lap (SLJ). Therefore, a area investigation in field bonding uniformisation distribution along bondline, order to decrease those accumulations its ends, achieving stronger lighter joints. The goal this work was develop functionally modified adhesive, where mechanical properties vary gradually overlap. With an adequate application magnetic fields, using customised apparatus, magnetised cork microparticles, initially uniformly distributed within resin, were strategically placed bondline joint, being then nonuniformly entire overlap area. results gradual variation decreasing leading more uniform on region. stiffness varies maximum middle minimum edges influence amount microparticles assessed. Tensile tests performed bulk specimens SLJs, SEM analysis particles correspondent fracture surfaces specimens. Additionally, glass transition temperature measurements carried out. According experimental testing result, inclusion these enhances performance both graded particle distribution, when compared bonded neat resin. It also possible manufacture distinct behaviour, which dependent considered.
