摘要: Given incontrovertible evidence that humans are the most powerful agents of environmental change on planet, research has begun to acknowledge and integrate human presence activity into updated descriptions world’s biomes as “anthromes”. Thus far, a classification system for anthromes is limited terrestrial biosphere. Here, I present case consideration validity coastal anthromes. Every environment Earth subject direct indirect modification disturbance. Despite legacy, ubiquity, pervasiveness interactions with ecosystems, still lack formal definition. Following original argument framework anthromes, outline set anthrome classifications dovetail marine counterparts. Recognising environments complex increasingly vulnerable anthropogenic systems fundamental step toward understanding their modern dynamics—and, by extension, realising opportunities limits resilience.
