摘要: Abstract Polyethylene-terephthalate (PET) polymeric foils were irradiated with UV-irradiation for different time durations (16, 30, 40 hrs). The effect due to the UV irradiation at duration is investigated by UV-Vis spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. From optical density or absorbance energy band gap (Eg) determined. Further, tail width of localized states in was determined through Urbach’s method. present results reveal that decreases from 3.97eV 3.88eV pure/unirradiated hrs respectively. Whereas, Urbach (Eo) increases 0.035eV 0.059eV increase Such decrease may be associated augmented conjugation PET polymer samples formation large number ion pairs during covalent bond breakage caused photons as observed FTIR spectrums.
