摘要: To determine operational and analytical characteristics of respondent-driven sampling (RDS) in international settings to explore factors that may affect recruitment most-at-risk populations using RDS, we reviewed HIV biological behavioral surveillance studies used this method outside the United States. We identified 123 eligible studies, 59 from Europe, 40 Asia Pacific, 14 Latin America, seven Africa three Oceania. Studies collectively recruited 32,298 participants between 2003 2007; 53% were conducted among injecting drug users, which generally had faster compared with sex workers. All but 13 reached ≥90% their intended sample size, six failed reach equilibrium for key variables. This review has shown RDS is an effective technique, when designed implemented appropriately, surveys.
