摘要: Abstract Background Inorganic arsenic at high and prolonged doses is highly neurotoxic. Few studies have evaluated whether long-term, low-level exposure associated with neuropsychological functioning in adults. Objectives To investigate the association between inorganic among American Indians aged 64–95. Methods We assessed 928 participants Strong Heart Study by using data on species urine samples collected baseline (1989–1991) results of standardized tests global cognition, executive functioning, verbal learning memory, fine motor speed mental processing administered during comprehensive follow-up evaluations 2009–2013. calculated difference for a 10% increase urinary adjustment sex, age, education, study site. Results The sum methylated (∑As) was limited speed. A ∑As .10 (95% CI −.20, −.01) decrease Finger Tapping Test dominant hand .13 −.21, −.04) non-dominant hand. Similarly, .15 −.29, .00) Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale–Fourth Edition Coding Subtest. not other functions. Conclusions Findings indicate an adverse increased speed, but elderly Indians.
