摘要: Preclinical trials have shown beneficial effects of nerve growth factor (NGF) administration on visual function in animal models retinitis pigmentosa (RP). The aim this pilot study was to explore the potential efficacy short term NGF eye drops treatment patients affected by RP. The trial consisted 10 days daily murine as eye-drops for a total dose 1 mg NGF/pt. Eight RP at an advanced stage disease were included trial. To monitor safety and adverse subjects underwent standard clinical measures requested report any general or topic alterations following assumption. Retinal assessed baseline after best-corrected acuity measurement (BCVA), macular focal electroretinogram (fERG) recording Goldmann field testing. A transient tolerable local corneal irritation only effect reported. fERG BCVA remained within limits determined test–retest analysis large cohort patients. Three reported subjective feeling improved performance. This associated temporary enlargement all three two three. Short-term caused neither significant nor losses tested minority experienced improvement performance fERG. supports possible Trial registration: EudraCT n. 2008-004561-26
