摘要: The role of tumour marker assays in differentiating malignant from benign pleural effusions is not yet clear. This study was designed to prospectively assess the individual and combined diagnostic utility three markers patients with effusion. Pleural serum levels carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate 15-3 (CA 15-3) cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA 21-1) were determined 115 (42 73 benign). each assessed using accuracy determine optimal cut-off point, whilst a logistic regression model used obtain test. In serum, every showed an high specificity (over 97%) for malignancy. sensitivity CEA, CA CYFRA 21-1 36, 48 31%, respectively. without renal failure, rose 53%, while those CEA remained almost unchanged. fluid, low (32%) (82%), highest (57%). Excluding determination has (88%), similar that plus fluid (87%). We conclude useless should be failure. may obviate its fluid.
