摘要: [1] A continuous high-resolution magnetotelluric (MT) profile 5.4 km long reveals a 1- to 2-km-thick section of Neogene strata thrust beneath crystalline range front along gently dipping decollement in the Kyrgyz Tien Shan, central Asia. The imaged links intrabasin Akchop Hills fault, which currently accommodates ∼15% total shortening across crustal ramp that dips ∼45° range. Bounds from MT data on base sediments and dip suggest >2.5–7.5 basin margin, at least 2.5–4.8 clearly involves recently developed fault. Thus significant fraction margin has been accommodated by this young fault system. Combined with preliminary studies mid-Miocene age for stratigraphic section, results drawn indicate rates have increased since onset deformation, perhaps within past 1–2 million years.
