摘要: We present an overview of the current status unconventional energy development, particularly shale gas, and underground CO2 storage as a measure to mitigate greenhouse gas increase in atmosphere. review their potential induce seismicity, which has caused debates among related enterprises, engineers, researchers, environmental public communities regarding hazards. Studies show that fracking can be problem it consumes abundant water, but seismicity induced by not yet been observed many felt earthquakes. However, massive wastewater injection, part development process M5.0+ earthquakes past well several recent ongoing cases seismicity. Large-scale injection carbon sequestration efforts near future high risk inducing large Therefore, operations both should optimized managed likelihood seismic event.
