THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SELF MANAGEMENT PROGRAM ON PAIN, FATIGUE, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND STRESS IN SICKLE CELL PATIENTS: A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

摘要: Background: Patients with sickle cell disease, who must manage serious and unpredictable complications related to their particularly chronic pain, suffer from numerous psychosocial problems such as depression, anxiety, stress, disruption of interpersonal relationships; these often lead fatigue poor quality life. Objectives: This study aimed determine the effectiveness self-management programs targeting fatigue, stress in patients. Methods: was a quasi-experimental study; participants were 53 patients disease referred Thalassemia Clinic Ahvaz Shafa Hospital. Participants recruited by census 2013. received program that implemented five sessions over 12 weeks. Levels assessed before 24 weeks after intervention; pain during intervention at week post-intervention follow-up using severity scale (FSS), DASS21, record. Descriptive statistics, Fisher’s exact test, Chi-square, independent t-tests, paired repeated measures tests correlations used analyze data. Results: Scores for significantly decreased compared (P < 0.001). Repeated testing showed mean scores frequency duration intervention, well Conclusions: The results suggest on reduction Therefore, are advisable order empower assist management health-related problems.
