摘要: Mortality estimates are needed of birds and bats killed by wind turbines because power generation is rapidly expanding worldwide. A mortality estimate based on the number fatalities assumed caused found during periodic searches, plus estimated not found. The 2 most commonly used estimators adjust rates searcher detection scavenger removal carcasses. However, trials can be biased species in trial, volitionally placed for a given fatality search, disposition carcass ground. Scavenger metric representing rate, carcasses at once, duration used, whether were frozen, included injuries consistent with turbine collisions, season, distance from turbines, general location. I summarized among reported trials, developed models to predict proportion remaining since last search. summaries present previous future improve comparability. also identify research directions better understand these other adjustments compare farms.
