摘要: Recent advances in nanotechnology have led to exciting opportunities medicine, energy, manufacturing, and other fields. Nevertheless, it is important adequately assess the potential impacts of nanomaterial exposure. This chapter focuses on interactions nanomaterials with epithelial barriers lungs, intestine, kidneys, skin, placenta. Methods for determining transepithelial electrical resistance paracellular permeability are described. Effects cell viability barrier integrity depend chemical nature nanomaterial, nanoparticle size, surface coatings, concentration. Disruption tight junctions can affect interfere normal regulatory processes barrier. Future research needed better understand possibilities limits novel approaches nanotechnology.
