Inter- and intra-researcher variation in measurement of morphometrics on Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus)

摘要: Substantial effort has been made to increase the accuracy of photogrammetric measurement techniques, especially on marine mammals. However, physical measurements is rarely considered when calculating accuracy. We examined inter- and intra-researcher variation in morphometrics Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus) assess their potential effects body mass predictions based photogrammetrically derived morphometrics. Significant differences were found inter-researcher median standard length axillary girth measuring same animals. Photogrammetrically estimates these parameters are comparable taking into account inherent variation.
