摘要: Abstract Forty-three cases of preponderant left ventricular hypertrophy uncertain etiology, associated with congestive heart failure, have been analyzed. Valvular disease, congenital cardiac defects, syphilitic aortitis, adherent pericardium, and inflammatory myocardial disease were excluded, the available blood pressure readings normal. The possible role antecedent hypertension in genesis was tested by comparing incidence renal arteriolar sclerosis this group patients that 269 nonhypertensive subjects similar age 69 essential who died failure. Renal occurred 12.6 per cent them bears a relation to age. In chronic arterioles encountered 82.5 cent, whereas 42 etiology lesion only 30.9 cent. Evidence is presented which suggests played part development many 18 infarction are included group. Other factors hypertrophy, namely, coronary sclerosis, protracted auricular fibrillation, anemia, hyperthyroidism, found 14 43 etiology. remaining 11, structural or functional abnormalities might initiated dilatation not apparent. It felt although cannot be excluded individual case, its absence majority these appears probable.
