摘要: BACKGROUND Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has been used as a therapeutic drug for the treatment of some human diseases. However, no systematic evidence is performed assessing role VEGF in periodontitis. We carried out comprehensive analysis to explore patients with METHODS Multiple databases were searched eligible studies. The pooled standardized mean difference (SMD) and odds ratio (OR) corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) applied evaluate effect sizes. Clinical data validation from microarray was used. Pathway process enrichment also investigated. RESULTS Finally, 16 studies included this analysis. Overall, there significantly higher level expression periodontitis than healthy control groups (OR = 16.64, CI = 6.01-46.06, P < 0.001; SMD = 2.25, CI = 1.25-3.24, P < 0.001). Subgroup ethnicity showed that still correlated Asian European populations. No correlation observed between age, gender, pathological type. A large clinical sample (427 136 controls) further validated (P = 0.023). involved many functions such blood vessel development, response factor, cell proliferation, adhesion. CONCLUSIONS High levels credible implications development Anti-VEGF therapy may be valuable management.
