摘要: Although a number of studies have shown that natural and laboratory populations initially well adapted to their environment can evolve rapidly when conditions suddenly change, the dynamics rapid adaptation are not understood. Here population genetic model polygenic selection is analyzed describe short-term response quantitative trait after sudden shift phenotypic optimum. We provide explicit analytical expressions for timescales over which mean approaches new find effect sizes small relative scaled mutation rate, moderate allele frequency changes occur in phase synergistic fashion. In contrast, selective sweeps, i.e., dramatic frequency, may provided size sufficiently large. Applications our theoretical results relationship between QTL sweep mapping tests fast discussed.
