摘要: We present the first study of spatial distribution star formation in z~0.5 cluster galaxies. The analysis is based on data taken with Wide Field Camera 3 as part Grism Lens-Amplified Survey from Space (GLASS). illustrate methodology by focusing two clusters (MACS0717.5+3745 and MACS1423.8+2404) different morphologies (one relaxed one merging) use foreground background galaxies field control sample. cluster+field sample consists 42 stellar masses range 10^8-10^11 M_sun, rates 1-20 M_sun/yr. Both field, H{\alpha} more extended than rest-frame UV continuum 60% cases, consistent diffuse inside out growth. In ~20% emission appears pointing perhaps to ionized gas being stripped and/or enhanced at large radii. peak that are offset less 1 kpc. investigate trends hot density traced X-ray emission, surface mass inferred gravitational lens models find no conclusive results. diversity sizes observed H_alpha illustrates complexity environmental process regulate formation. Upcoming full GLASS dataset will increase our size almost an order magnitude, verifying strengthening inference this initial dataset.
