摘要: This is a review of some concepts in the mechanics fracture appropriate to interpreting atomistically brittle modes cracking crystal lattices and interfaces between crystalline phases, especially solids which are normally, or potentially, ductile. Crack tip modelling first discussed based on elastic-brittle concepts, assuming either that there no near-tip dislocation activity or, for time being, neglecting it. That discussion brings out importance Griffith condition its generalization interface (e.g., an embrittled grain boundary), includes account thermodynamics interfacial decohesion presence (possibly embrittling) segregants. It suggested phenomenology boundary embrittlement by P Sn Fe, “cohesion enhancement” C, can be at least partly understood as effect various segregants altering work necessary separate against atomic cohesive forces.
