摘要: Approximately 50% of Africa’s surface area consists grassland. Mobile pastoralism—the movement livestock according to the seasonal availability pasture—is a traditional and widespread form livelihood in semiarid regions. pastoralism has been neglected by policy makers, mistrust is rife between pastoralist communities governments, pastoralists sedentary farmers, different groups. Increasing population pressures climate change have led degradation grasslands, particularly already-dry areas. Conflict over access grazing water increased, insecurity further hampered development. This section chapter offers examples from Darfur Sudan Kaduna State Nigeria illustrate why conflict mitigation land restoration need be implemented concurrently ensure sustainable management grassland these An example Baringo County Kenya illustrates some success with this integrated approach.
