摘要: Stress in fish can be assessed by means of a bioenergetic approach, based on the evaluation changes their physiological parameters. The objective this study was to determine impact sublethal water-borne cadmium (Cd) energetic balance juvenile Cyprinus carpio under laboratory conditions after short-term exposure. Fish were exposed concentration Cd (0.15 mg l−1) for 2 weeks. This is environmentally realistic since it usually found, even at higher values, heavily polluted periurban water bodies Argentina. No mortality recorded among animals used experiments. Food intake, food assimilation and efficiency, fecal production, liver glycogen content, oxygen consumption, extraction specific metabolic rate, ammonia excretion quotient (AQ), condition factor, somatic index determined. overall expressed as scope growth (SFG). morphological indices content Cd-exposed showed no significant differences when compared those controls. There decrease rates well AQ; SFG exhibited highly decrease. remaining parameters (assimilation excretion) increased exposure Cd. We concluded that sub-chronic causes important alterations energy-related homeostasis fish. Most responses are indicative adaptations compensate an energy requirement due impairments caused metal.
