摘要: Synopsis Intimate partner violence is, internationally, the most prevalent and serious harm perpetrated against women. Yet despite its mass scale, cross-cultural nature, identifiable structural institutional elements, it continues to be treated as a problem of violent individuals. In this article, I challenge existing conceptual frameworks by proposing that intimate (IPV) women men conceptualised within international law crime humanity state crime. explain suitability framework showing IPV can understood systematic perpetration grave harms particular social group, context policy, practice ideology institutes, authorises, endorses, is therefore complicit, in harm. also suggest because perpetrates which directly underpins IPV, male perpetrators proxy agents patriarchal state. original way understanding could enhance recognition, illuminate multiple layers liability for harm, prompt more holistic responses problem, some are outlined final section article.
