Quality of life of Nigerian Chronic Kidney Disease patients: experience from Benin City, Nigeria

摘要: Background: Chronic kidney disease patients have been known to poor quality of life as a result the process. This affects every area physical function, mental health and well being. The purpose this study was assess in Nigerian chronic Kidney patients. Method: SF-36 survey questionnaire used individual interview cross sectional, involving all seen at University Benin Teaching Hospital. data collected compared that healthy controls analysed establish any correlation between certain socio-demographic biochemical variables. Results: There were statistically significant differences scores controls. also pre-dialysis on dialysis. Paired Pearson’s analysis showed higher Packed Cell Volume (PCV), Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR), serum albumin, calcium Kt/V had positive scores. Higher fasting blood sugar, urea creatinine, phosphate, presence more comorbid conditions, edema uremic symptoms negative correlation. Conclusion: Quality is significantly poorer than domains assessed by SF36 instrument.
