摘要: Construction of a nomadic identity in contemporary society has received increasing attention as the result multiple challenges, including industrialisation, formation nation-states and global market system. Mongolia provides an interesting case study for examination self-representations peoples their intricate relationship with national identity-building developing society. Based on analysis 28 school textbooks social studies subjects narratives herders two regions (Bulgan Bayankhongor), this examined interplay between ‘Mongol malchin’ (Mongolian herder) construction Mongolian state’s dominant discourse herders’ living experiences. The study’s findings revealed how is interpreted post-socialist to accommodate changes political agenda building nationhood.
