摘要: Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (REDD+) is a policy mechanism now agreed under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions developing countries through sustainable management of forests, while providing co-benefits biodiversity conservation livelihood support. Implementation challenges include linking remote sensing national forest inventories stocks, local implementation measuring loss degradation. Community-based monitoring can help overcome some these challenges. We show that people collect condition data comparable quality trained scientists, at half cost. draw our experience propose how where REDD+ be established. Empowering communities own monitor stocks could provide rapid cost-effective way absorbing emissions, potentially contributing livelihoods conservation.
