摘要: Processing whole trees into pulp chips with chain flail delimber/debarker/chippers (DDCs) is costly. Production rates of DDCs are limited by the residence time required to remove limbs and bark. Using a pull-through delimber, we delimbed prior flailing chipping, objective speeding up latter processes. Pre-delimbing increased productivity DDC about 10 percent. The reduced cost flail/chipping did not cover additional delimbing machine mix tested, but changes equipment operating conditions might improve situation. In test configuration, delimber processed 175 per productive hour, half as many DDC. Delimbing separated 35 dry pounds tree, which may have higher value than mixture limb bark residues produced from trees.
