摘要: Outer membrane vesicles (OMV) are spherical structures derived from the outer (OM) of Gram-negative bacteria. OMVs predominant gut microbiota members, Bacteroides, proposed to play key roles in homeostasis. OMV biogenesis Bacteroides is a poorly understood process. Here, we revisited protein composition B. theta by mass spectrometry. We confirmed that produced this organism contain large quantities glycosidases and proteases, with most them being lipoproteins. found many these OMV-enriched lipoproteins encoded polysaccharide utilization loci (PULs), such as sus operon. examined subcellular localization components operon alpha-amylase SusG highly enriched while oligosaccharide importer SusC remains mostly OM. show all possess lipoprotein export sequence (LES) mediates translocation periplasmic face OM towards extracellular milieu required for localize preferentially OMVs. also surface-exposed active can rescue growth bacterial cells incapable growing on starch only carbon source. Our results support role "public goods" be utilized other organisms different metabolic capabilities.
