摘要: Introduction: In recent years, several investigations have related -hydroxy--methylbutyrate (HMB) to a reduced muscle proteolysis and an increase in mass. Therefore, number of studies focused on the cellular molecular mechanisms regulating these effects been carried out. Aims: The objectives this review are: know both HMB metabolism toxicity, identify action when used as dietary supplement. Methods: A search was performed Web Science, Pubmed SportDiscus data bases. Results were divided into two parts; article presents aspects referring action. Results: There is insufficient evidence that intake increases cholesterol synthesis. It probably has positive through mTOR ubiquitin-proteasome pathways, although mechanism unknown. may blood levels -hydroxybutyrate could explain main proteolysis. Conclusion: According results, possibility justifying beta-hydroxybutyrate pathway opens interesting line research for future studies.
