Machine type communications in 3GPP networks: potential, challenges, and solutions

摘要: With a wide range of potential applications, Machine Type Communication (MTC) or to (M2M) communication is gaining tremendous interest among mobile network operators, equipment vendors, MTC specialist companies, and research bodies. To facilitate convergence these different stakeholders, standardization groups started working on MTC. This article introduces briefly some the relevant activities, with focus those related 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The focuses two important aspects devices, currently discussed in 3GPP as part its Release 10. They are subscription control congestion/overload control. For latter, new solution based bulk signaling handling proposed.
