摘要: Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) represent an essential part of glycans in a wide variety organisms. This chapter will provide overview four GAGs relation to their structure, biosynthesis, and modification; biological significance; how these different classes are being used clinically. In general, composed repeating disaccharide units consisting either N-acetylglucosamine or N-acetylgalactosamine linked hexauronic galactose residue. key component functions ranging from anticoagulation growth pathways cartilage’s ability sustain stress during compression. These GAG polysaccharides able be synthesized by tissues yield unique structures that exhibit functional selectivity. The possible structure sequences significance is why remain important source drug development studies.
