摘要: To investigate genetic differentiation among populations of European red deer (Cervus elaphus), mitochondrial(mt) DNA a total 70 individuals from 15 sampling sites in Western, Central, and South- eastern Europe was digested with 16 restriction enzymes. A 69 allowed us to define nine haplotypes, whereby most the samples were monomorphic for particular haplotype. Relationships haplotypes largely consistent both geographical distribution sampled relationships as inferred allozyme electrophoresis. Given subdivision into several distinct gene pools, mtDNA profiles will serve powerful tool number applications conservation management: Regarding alteration native pools by introductions various parts Europe, allow assess impact trace origin introduced females. Even at comparatively small geographic scale is helpful detecting isolation or hybridization populations. Finally, may contribute shed light on controversial systematic position some subspecies, such Sardinian
