摘要: A vibrant literature has emerged in recent years exploring moves towards neoliberal forms of conservation, with a reduced role for the state and an enhanced markets private civil society actors. Yet there is need studies which explore how why this trend emerged, what impact it on both people nature. The author provides detailed examination protected areas, are often associated approaches to Chile—a country had long deep engagement neoliberalism. It found that areas demonstrate broad range attitudes use from enthusiasm hostility. all have been made possible, indeed incentivised, by Chile's liberalised property individualistic political culture—products earlier reforms within economy. As such, they provide only limited challenge social environmental consequence integration southern natural resources into global economic chains. emphasises importance considering broader economic, political, allowed certain conservation emerge thrive.
