摘要: Aim: To review sudden unexpected infant deaths (SUDI) in the first 28 days of life referred to a Coronial Perinatal Forensic Pathology Service over 10-year period from 2000 2009. Methods: Cases were collected mortuary records, and retrospective autopsy reports other available records was undertaken. Results: Twenty-four neonatal SUDI reviewed. For eight infants, diagnosis made at autopsy. remaining 16 14 (87.5%) bedsharing time death. Maori infants those living deprived neighbourhoods over-represented. Only two preterm, four growth-restricted. At post-mortem, white matter gliosis found 10 (62.5%) unexplained cases. Conclusion: Sudden occur month association with bedsharing. Gliosis may be an important associated risk factor, its presence indicates previous insult prenatal onset.
